10 Questions

with Nico Demet

Demet is a senior on the Lake Forest water polo team.

Do you have any pregame rituals or superstitions?

I tend to just plug in my iPod and watch the junior varsity guys to cheer them on. I then try to pump up the team as much as I can. During our warm-up, I try to keep the team serious to set off on a good note.

What kind of music are you currently listening to?

I listen to alternative rock. I’ve been liking Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds especially.

If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?

I think I would go to Greece because I’m half Greek and I have a bunch of family out there. I haven’t seen them in a long time.

What would your dream job be?

Engineering. I would probably be working for some kind of automotive company. I haven’t decided on what college I’m going to attend yet.

If you could play another sport, what would it be?

I’m a swimmer. I think I would probably try shotput. I have never tried it, but I just think I would be good at it, maybe.

Who is your favorite athlete?

I don’t really follow sports to be completely honest with you.

If you won the lottery, what would your first purchase be?

I would probably buy a car. I’ve always wanted a Porsche and I like the new ones that are out right now.

What television show are you watching right now?

Top Gear. It’s got cars
and I really like the ones they showcase on the program.

What are your individual goals for the water polo season?

I really want to come out as a whole set. I tried the sport for the first time last year, but I wasn’t very good at it. I want to come out and be that position for the team and help the team out a lot.

What is your favorite part about being an athlete at Lake Forest High School?

I would say the support you get and there’s a lot of camaraderie on the team. You become friends with everyone on the team. There are many people that will come out and support you at games.
