Colin McDonnell was able to overcome some early adversity on the mound in the Lake Forest baseball team’s Mickey Mantle League matchup with Evanston on July 1.
McDonnell, who went four shutout innings, and the rest of the Scouts pitching staff ultimately found ways to keep the Evanston offense at bay as Lake Forest (9-1) earned a 7-0 win.
McDonnell got out of jams with runners at the corners in both the second and the fourth. And in both the third and the fourth he struck out the side.
