Every school day morning, that truth is put into practice by a dedicated group of volunteers, many of them from Lake Forest and Lake Bluff, who drive to elementary schools in North Chicago and Zion. There, book by book and smile by smile, they are slowly changing the worlds of around 200 youngsters annually whose reading skills need a boost.
