Granger Cook Jr., whose successful legal career spanned more than 50 years and who later in life championed the cause of cultural excellence in the community, peacefully passed away in his sleep March 14 at age 88.

The longtime Lake Forest resident graduated from New Trier High School, then served in the Army during World War II. He graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in electrical engineering, followed by a law degree from the University of Michigan. He then pursued a career in patent litigation in Chicago, founding and managing Cook Alex.
