Options for Mexican food can be found everywhere on North Shore

The smoked pork taco at Salt Creek Tacos, owned by John des Rosiers of Lake Forest’s Inovasi and The Otherdoor, is prepared Veracruz style with olive, caper, tomato, sunflower seeds and jalapeno.
Wilmette’s Depot Nuevo offers eight different taco options, which include barbecue short rib (left), steak (center) and chicken.
The menu at Highwood’s La Plancha Loca includes a vegetarian taco made with soy chorizo and topped with Mexican cactus, onion and cilantro.
The crab enchiladas at Glencoe’s Guanajuato Contemporary Mexican & Tequila Bar come with three enchiladas filled with blue-crab meat and covered with mole Coloradito, topped with red cabbage, avocado, radishes, crema and queso fresco.
The chile en nogada at Taco Vida, owned by Freddy Sanchez and Susan Munic of Northfield’s Taco Nano, features ground beef and pork taco topped with a grilled poblano pepper, a walnut cream sauce and pomegranate seeds and served on a tri-colored tortilla.
Northbrook’s Eataco offers elote with fire-roasted corn topped with Mexican crema, queso fresco and house seasonings.
The duck bunuelos at Glenview’s Mercado Cocina and Cantina features dumplings filled with duck meat over an Oaxacan mole negro and topped with figs and queso fresco.
