Lake Bluff and Lake Forest were recently announced as participating communities in a new program designed to promote solar energy in Illinois.
ComEd has given a $299,840 rebate to the Elgin-based Rainy Solar, Inc., which is the first company in northern Illinois to develop and operate a community solar project.
This project allows residential and business customers to subscribe to a portion of the clean power energy that is generated, which will in turn earn credit on their bills from ComEd.
