Woman charged with stealing bracelets from home
Candice Faassen, 29, of Lake Villa, was arrested on Feb. 20 at her home and charged with two counts of felony theft for an incident in January. On Jan. 15, The Lake Forest Police Department took a report from a home in the 0 block of Rue Forest in Lake Forest of several bracelets being taken from the house during the day. Detectives discovered that Faassen, who had been working at the home that day, had pawned two of the bracelets at a pawn shop in another community. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Faassen on Feb. 20. Following her arrest, she was processed and transported to Lake County Jail for a bond hearing. Faassen’s bond was set at $20,000. She has a March 12 court date.

Lake Forest
Feb. 11
• Jasmine Barrera, 22, of Libertyville, was stopped by an officer at 12:27 a.m. on Route 60 at Field Court for driving without a tail light.. She was taken into custody when she was found to be driving on a suspended driver’s license. Barrera was processed and released on bond. She has a March 3 court date.
Feb. 13
• Pineda Velazquez, 24, of North Chicago, was stopped by police at 10:30 p.m. on Route 41 at Deerpath for driving a car without valid registration. He was taken into custody when he was found to have a suspended driver’s license. Velazquez was processed and released on bond. He has a March 17 court date.
• Officers responded to a home in the 500 block of East Rosemary at 11:31 p.m. for a report that a juvenile female, 16, was intoxicated and passed out. The teen was later cited for consumption of alcohol by a minor. She has a March 11 court date.
Feb. 20
• Mareena Good, 24, of 29 Farnham Lane, Lake Forest, was stopped by police at 8:51 p.m. on Route 41 at Middlefork for a registration violation. She was taken into custody when she was found to be driving on a suspended driver’s license. Cannabis, a smoking pipe and an open bottle of alcohol were also found. Good was cited for driving while license suspended, unlawful possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful transportation of alcohol. She was processed and released on bond. Good has a March 16 court date.
Feb. 22
• Police responded to Lake Forest College at 2:30 a.m. for a report of a false fire alarm pulled there. Officers spoke to Max Livingstone-Peters, 18, of Vermont, and Reid Martin, 19, of Oregon. Both had been drinking and were cited for consumption of alcohol by a minor and have a March 11 administrative hearing date.
Lake Bluff
Feb. 17
• Police responded to the 100 block of East Hawthorne Court in Lake Bluff at 1:19 p.m. for a report of an injured deer. Upon arrival, an officer met with the homeowner, who pointed out the deer in the backyard. As the officer approached, the deer jumped a fence and ran west. The officer observed that the deer had a broken rear lower leg, likely from a traffic crash that occurred in the area on Feb. 16.
Feb. 20
• Police met with a resident who came into the Public Safety Building on East Center Avenue at 12:52 p.m. to report possible Internal Revenue Service tax fraud.
• An officer was dispatched to the area of south bound Moffett Road from East North Avenue at 7:43 p.m. for a report of a suspicious vehicle. The complainant stated a blue pickup truck, which was low to the ground, had been slowly driving up and down East North Avenue for approximately 15 minutes. The officer checked Moffett Road all of the way down to East Sheridan Road, but could not locate the vehicle.
Feb. 21
• Officers responded to the 400 block of Skokie Highway at 9:27 a.m. for a report of a suspicious person. The subject advised an employee that a female from the Cooper Police Department in England was looking for him. Officers met with the subject and escorted him out of the building. Officers advised the subject that there was no Cooper Police at the dealership. The subject cleared the Illinois Law Enforcement Agencies Data System and the National Crime Information Center. Officers made contact with a relative and verified the subject, who suffers from paranoia, was not missing. The subject left the scene without incident.
• Officers responded to the 500 block of Ravine Avenue at 1:41 p.m. for a dispute between the resident and a work crew from Asplundh, contracted by Com Ed. The dispute was over a tree on the complainant’s property being trimmed. Prior to the officer’s arrival, the work crew left the scene. The subject stated he wold file a complaint with Village Hall. No further police assistance was needed.
