In a cozy, sun-lit home and studio renovated from an old coach house in Lake Forest, Kay Waltman has lived and worked as an industrial designer for much of her adult life, before retiring and deciding to focus her time and enjoyment on her art.
“I paint something because it appeals to me,” Waltman said. “I’ve always painted because it makes me happy. I never painted with the idea of someone else. It’s for my own pleasure.”
