Ask any paradegoer at Lake Bluff’s Fourth of July parade this past Saturday why they came, and at least one of three words will be in their answer: Americana, family and tradition. For an event running continuously since 1911 and with some residents watching for 40 years or more over their children’s and grandchildren’s generations, the descriptions fit.

With perfect weather, possibly the longest-running parade in the area — in years and number of groups marching — drew people from near and far.
